claim reggie spencer and two friends killed 61-year-old glenn scarborough believing he was responsible for her worsening health. fox 5's paul wagner has that story. >> reporter: according to the court affidavit filed in the case, glen scarborough and sharon spencer were dating. spencer had cancer and by mid- june was very sick. in fact, she had been hospitalized. according to the affidavit, reggie spencer went to visit his mom and overheard doctors say his mother had been sexually assaulted and had contracted a sexually transmitted disease. it caused cancer to worsen. furious over what he had police say spencer went to scarborough's home to get him. he took two of his friends, phillip swan and terrell wilson, and together they put on blue hospital gloves and barged into scarborough's basement home on leavitt street northeast. according to the affidavit, one of the men, phillip swan, admitted using duct tape to bind scarborough's feet, mouth and head. a friend found scarborough's body on june 19th, a sunday. police say reggie spencer overheard the doctors talking on a saturday. d.c. pol

in with es spencer christian. >> this could be the first warmth we have seen in a longtime. we have low clouds and fog and sunny skies inland. it was warm in some of the inland locations. let's give uh closer look. cloverdale a high of 88 degrees and santa rosa 84. over in the inland, upper 80sin concord and 87 was the high in morgan hill. around around the bay it was a little less warm. 74 redwood city. 70 in oakland and 66 was the high in san francisco. right now we are looking at 53 in oakland and still a warm 71 in antioch. these are the highlights. they will push locally inland. further warming will occur tomorrow and the temperatures will peak this weekends. overnight lows will be mainly in the mid to upper 50s. so a mild night is on hand. a low of 61 at antioch which and not low at all. there is a weak trough in this jet stream as it is lifting and pulling away. as it does so, it will allah for the expansion of very, very warm air. there is a huge warm air mass covering much of the nation. that will expand westward into california and into the bay area, and it will enhance the wa

this morning on parkwood place, just off 14th street northwest. darcy spencer is live on the scene. i understand we're starting to hear about a possible motive. what can you tell us about that? >> reporter: what we're hearing is that this shooting may have somehow involved gambling, or possibly a gambling debt. we're told that there was a craps game being played on the sidewalk outside of the house early this morning, and that's when the shots rang out. sources say gambling may have been behind a triple shooting that left two men dead in the 1400 block of parkwood place in northwest washington. gunfire erupted around 5:45 in the morning. annie jackson said she heard about eight shots. >> i heard the shots. i got on the floor, you know. that's the thing, you hit the floor, you don't stand up. like we're living in a third-world country so you have to learn how to protect yourself. >> reporter: two men were pronounced dead on the scene. one was transported to the hospital in critical condition. jimmy simmons said one of the victims was his son. jim graham said he believes the shooting ma

and they appeared to struck again at bethesda middle school and that's where darcy spencer is with more on the possible connection to these two crimes. >> reporter: police say these crimes are very similar in nature but they have no idea why vandals are targeting middle schools here in montgomery county. mont gonlry county police are investigating acts of vandalism at two middle schools that they believe could be connected. the first at herbert hoover middle school in potomac. >> it was ethnically offensive and sexually graphic. >> at 2:40 saturday morning, police responded to an alarm at north bethesda middle school in bethesda. officers found similar damage, sexually explicit paintings and hate language on the school building. several windows were broken. seven cars were damaged with paint on beach avenue near the school. >> we don't know who's responsible. if it is juveniles we want to make sure that everyone understands we don't look at this as a prank. these are serious incidents and they are being thoroughly investigated. >> reporter: the crimes are not affecting school operations

, restaurants and nightclubs bring in big crowds. many say they are attracting trouble. last night darcy spencer went to adams morgan to check it out for herself. >> reporter: i was out here until 4:00 this morning with a photographer. we wanted to come here and see exactly what is happening in the overnight hours. are police overwhelmed. are the crowds out of control. here's what we found. ♪ this is adams morgan on a saturday night where the streets and sidewalks are just as packed as the nightclubs. what's it like down here? >> it's wild. crazy. people every where. motorcycles. people every where. and it's real fun. it's exciting >> reporter: over the course of four hours from midnight to 4:00 a.m. this is what we found. thousands of people coming out to 18th street, a strip of bars and restaurants. some here to drink, take in the scenery. others found them cess on the wrong side of the law, locked up. two men were arrested after a fight at 2:30 in the morning. we saw another man who couldn't walk on his own. his friend were helping him home. >> what brings you to adams morgan. >> a vacation

sexual assault to murder. gillette turned himself in this evening and darcy spencer has more. >> reporter: i i was able to speak to the victim and he says he is pleased by indictment but he is in hiding. his family is concerned about retaliatio retaliation. gene gillette turned himself in after being indicted this morning. the officer claimed he was a victim of a carjacking. >> we can't take him out. >> reporter: irvin hall says that gillette picked up his son on july 2nd saying that there was a party at his house but hen he got there there was no party. the officer allegedly gave the 20-year-old victim drinks and tried to sexually abuse him and gillette pistol whipped him and shot him twice. >> he threw him on the ground and his whole arm was messed up. >> reporter: gillette told authorities he shot the victim when he tried to carjack him but investigators determined the story was not adding up. >> the police returned to the scene and they didn't take the first word and continued to investigate. they did a thorough job in investigating the case and trying to bring out the truth. >> repor

but this is not the beginning of a heat watt. >> spencer christian is here. >> two days of nice, warm weather. >> two day autos two days of warm weather inland not going to remain this warm along the coast but will be pleasant there. is a live shot now from our high-definition camera looking towards golden gate, it's just beautiful. blue skies and you can see some low clouds and fog are beginning to return to the coast. there is sea breeze kicking in, which is why coastal areas saw high temperatures early in the day. cooling hasn't reached inland yet. so... the inland areas continue to warm into late afternoon hours. now, it's warm inland. heat is easing up a bit, it's 91 degrees at concord. upper 80s in other locations, 73 in oakland. 62346 san francisco. so there is plenty of warmth around. you can see we're still warmer in all locations by a few degrees than 24 hours ago. and yesterday it was eight degrees cooler in redwood city than it is now. or maybe i should say warmer now than this hour, yesterday. nine degrees warmer than it was in fremont. you get the picture. we warmed up around the bay area today.
